Do It Yourself South Dakota Pheasant Hunting.

The “Bird Dog Inn”, in Erwin, South Dakota, is located roughly halfway between Huron  and Watertown, in Kingsbury county, an area long known for outstanding pheasant hunting opportunities. We cater primarily to the D.I.Y. hunting enthusiast with their own dog(s). The area offers extensive available public lands and receptive private landowners with incredible habitat and winter cover. This insures consistently great bird counts, and affords the do-it yourself bird hunter with his own dog a vast selection of quality hunting areas.

The inn is a comfortable old house and is set up to accommodate up to six hunters (and their dogs) in three separate bedrooms, with a roomy kitchen, den, comfortable living room, and a heated bird cleaning facility. The Inn has a large dog exercise yard, safely away from busy roads and highways. Guests are welcome to do their own cooking, or accommodations are available with home cooked family style meals included. After your day in the field, you can look forward to relaxing on the couch, or taking a short walk to the historic “Uptown Bar” in downtown Erwin.

Included in your package are comprehensive scouting reports on area public lands that you will find informative and advantageous to your success, as well as a roster of cooperative local private landowners that regularly allow access, in most cases without trespass fees.

 Although outfitting and guiding on public lands is not permitted in South Dakota, fully guided private land hunts are available on a “by the day” basis for reasonable rates.

Our rate schedule is as follows:

Room (2 Beds) ………………………………………$50/day (min 3 days)

Board (3 Squares)……………………………............$50/person/day

Fully Guided, All Inclusive…………………………….$300/person/day

Catch and Release White Rhinocerous hunts by special arrangement

Check in time is around 3 or 4PM and checkout is about 10 or 11AM
